Dear friends and family of Alcove,

I don’t wish to desaturate the imperative messaging and communication of active organizers, community leaders, and protestors, but I do feel a duty as a business owner to take this moment to acknowledge that I need to work harder to align my business with my personal values. To start with, this means:

β€’Β Seeking out and featuring art- design- & craft- work by people of color

β€’Β Championing orgs which assist survivors of the inherently racist American justice system and advocate towards the end of the war on drugs.

β€’Β Making time and space for dialogues with you, our customers, explicitly on the subject of how we can all work towards becoming actively anti-racist weed consumers.

β€’Β Educating myself with existing resources,Β  trying not to place additional burdens on POC by demanding their mentorship.

The cannabis industry, already fraught with racial and gender inequality, by extension is my livelihood, but that word, livelihood, tastes bitter and moves sluggishly around my mouth. Our livelihood must not be gained at the cost of others livesΒ  - be that by incarceration or murder or otherwise.

Alcove will continue to keep our social media activity at a minimum over the next days as we continue to listen; please excuse this interruption. If you seek further Alcove news, please look instead to our email list.

I actively invite further conversation via email addressed to Alex or I at hi@alcove.shop ~ Thank you for your continued support and engagement.

With love, Allie
