Spaceship Lamp by Sister Ceramics

Spaceship Lamp

by Sister Ceramics

Silvery goodness.

The Spaceship Lamp has it all - it's minimal and futuristic, heavy and light, playful and austere!

The delicate, vintage silvered-glass dome is mirrored when the lamp is turned off and smokey translucent grey when the lightbulb is glowing. The hefty dark blue-grey base is hand built in ceramic by the artist with a matte and burnished-looking glaze. The cord for the two-pronged plug is black rope-covered with a handy twisting on-off switch. About 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide.

Sister Ceramics are handmade ceramic forms by Jenny Mulder. All objects are made with a sensitivity towards the senses; particularly light and touch. Most objects are made for minimal production, keeping the work in a delicate place between craft and art. It is this straddle that draws the work toward unconventional functional ware, such as soy sauce pours and sculptural lamps. Sister Ceramics asks: how useful is an object, really, if it’s not delightful? Based out of, and deeply inspired by, Taos, New Mexico.
